Optimal Allocation of Capacitor Bank in Radial Distribution System using Analytical Approach

    Get PDF
In this paper, a novel analytical technique is proposed for optimal allocation of shunt capacitor bank in radial distribution system. An objective function is formulated to determine the optimal size, number and location of capacitor bank for real & reactive power loss reduction, voltage profile enhancement and annual cost saving. A new constant, Power Voltage Sensitivity Constant (PVSC), has been proposed here. The value of PVSC constant decides the candidate bus location and size. The achievability of the proposed method has been demonstrated on IEEE-69 bus and real distribution system of Jamawaramgarh, Jaipur city. The obtained results are compared with latest optimization techniques to show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed technique

In this paper, a novel analytical technique is proposed to determine the optimal size and location of shunt capacitor units in radial distribution systems. An objective function is formulated to reduce real power loss, to improve thevoltage profile and to increase annual cost savings. A new constant, the Loss Sensitivity Constant (LSC), is proposed here. The value of LSC decides the location and size of candidate buses. The technique is demonstrated on an IEEE-33 bus system at different load levels and the 130-bus distribution system of Jamawa Ramgarh village, Jaipur city. The obtained results are compared with the latest optimization techniques to show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed technique

The Clinical Presentation and Management of Brain Abscess

Introduction: It has been reported to account for 1 – 2% and up to 8% of all intracranial space-occupying lesions in patients in developed and developing countries respectively. Bacteria can invade the brain by direct spread or through hematogenous seedling. Delayed surgical drainage has high morbidity and mortality. The diagnosis of a brain abscess is made with clinical features and investigations. Objective: To determine the frequency of clinical presentations, causative pathogens and their antibiotic sensitivity in patients with brain abscess. Results: The mean SD for age was 22.90 ± 14.0 years, the age range from 3 – 45 years. Male to female ratio was 3:1. The most common signs and symptoms of brain abscess were headache 32 (80%). The common predisposing factor for the formation of brain abscess was ear discharge which is 8 (20%) patients. Conclusion: It is concluded that the awareness of predisposing factors, early recognition of clinical features and understanding of the prevalent microbial profile is imperative for better management of children and adults with brain abscess

Go Together: Bridging the Gap between Learners and Teachers

After the pandemic, humanity has been facing different types of challenges. Social relationships, societal values, and academic and professional behavior have been hit the most. People are shifting their routines to social media and gadgets, and getting addicted to their isolation. This sudden change in their lives has caused an unusual social breakdown and endangered their mental health. In mid-2021, Pakistan's first Human Library was established under HelpingMind to overcome these effects. Despite online sessions and webinars, HelpingMind needs technology to reach the masses. In this work, we customized the UI or UX of a Go Together Mobile Application (GTMA) to meet the requirements of the client organization. A very interesting concept of the book (expert listener or psychologist) and the reader is introduced in GTMA. It offers separate dashboards, separate reviews or rating systems, booking, and venue information to engage the human reader with his or her favorite human book. The loyalty program enables the members to avail discounts through a mobile application and its membership is global where both the human-reader and human-books can register under the platform. The minimum viable product has been approved by our client organization

Objective: The consumption of motorbike is increasing in Asia. The aim of this study was to analyze the head injuries due to motorcycle accidents attended in the District Headquarter (DHQ), Dera Ismail Khan. Material and Methods: All the age groups from both genders were part of our study. All the patients show reduced GCS with some sign of having abnormalities on Computed tomography (CT) brain were included in our eligibility criteria. Pedestrians, those died before hospital arrival, complain about any other type of injury other than a head injury, and not have proper admission in the hospital was excluded from the study. Results: 478 patients were included in the current study. More than 44.14% of accidents were reported in patients aged 20 – 29 years. 441 (92.25%) were men, and 381 (79.7%) were driving themselves. Among 478 only 71 (14.85%) were wearing a helmet. Almost 47.48% of the accidents occurred on the weekend. 274 (57.32%) patients reached the hospital within 5 hours after the accident. 218 (45.6%) patients had a head injury. Brain edema was the most common CT abnormality 214 (44.8%).Conclusion: Mainly, the males were affected by a motorcycle accident and face head injury in the third decade of their life. The CT scan indicates brain edema as the most common findings. 45.6% of patients have a severe head injury and a mortality rate of 13.4% was reported.&nbsp

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the outcome of decompressive craniectomy in patients of traumatic head injury done in MTI, DHQ teaching hospital.Materials and Methods: 189 patients with head injury were operated in a period of 15 months (April 2018-June 2019). Among 189 patients only 50 (32 men and 18 women) were treated with decompressive craniectomy (DC). We analyze only 50 cases that were treated with DC. Demographic details, GCS, time of DC and complications were recorded. Glasgow Outcome Scale was used as a measure of clinical outcome. Results: Out of 50 patients, 18 (36%) showed a complete recovery, mild disability was found in 10 (20%) patients. The percentage of severe disability was observed in 7 (14%) patients asexual condition existed in 5 (12%) patients and the mortality rate was 12% (6 patients). 4 (8%) patients did not report us back. We excluded them from our final result analysis. A good result was presented in 28 patients (56%). Age was found to have a statistically significant association with clinical outcomes (p = 0.002). Moreover, the patients experiencing DC within 18 hours had an improved result (p = 0.001). The better GCS score before surgery was associated with good results (p = 0.001).Conclusion: Decompressive craniectomy is associated with better clinical outcomes in patients with traumatic brain injury associated with refractory cerebral edema and elevated intracranial pressure
